Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) December 05, 2011

With all the talk of occupation around the world, sometimes business professionals yearn for freedom. In the name of software liberation, Fathom is proud to present Tom Cottrill, Development Manager, as a featured speaker at the upcoming Software Freedom Day 2011 in North Olmsted, Ohio, on December 8-9th. Cottrills presentation, titled Frugal Web Development, will show how free, open-source tools can aid in the web development process. The two-day conference devoted to open-source software applications for business will take place at Remington College West at Great Northern Shopping Center. The purpose of Clevelands Software Freedom Day 2011 is, according to its website, to educate Northeast Ohio businesses and individuals about the benefits of free and open-source software (also known as FOSS). The event promises to offer solutions that make businesses or enterprises more efficient, secure and cost-effective.

Tom Cottrill has been working in marketing and web development for 14+ years. He oversees projects for a large number of clients across an array of industries. For many years, hes been a proponent of open-source technologies and platforms, having developed dozens of sites in WordPress, Joomla and other technologies, often extending them with custom functionality. Cottrill is also trained in PHP, .NET and several other programming languages.

Its easy to overlook crucial aspects of the web development process, stated Cottrill. Whether you are in the conceptualization, planning, design or launch phases, theres a lot to keep track of, and thats not even factoring in client communication. Ill show how you can use free and open-source tools to enhance every aspect of web development.

Software Freedom Days keynote speakers are Sarah Dutkiewicz, founder of Cleveland Tech Consulting (Thursday), and Eli Aschkenasy, founder of TheModularWay (Friday). Dutkiewicz will be addressing the crowd on Keeping An Open Mind About Open Source, while Aschkenasy will warn of The Cost of Free Software.
