From a survey of over two hundred students at FIUs job fair, Optimum7 selected five interns for their revitalized internship program. Interviewed individually and as a group, each intern was selected for his or her interest in a specific field relating to internet marketing.

Unlike most internships, Optimum7 interns became actively involved with actual client projects and Optimum7s many processes. They were encouraged to ask questions and give feedback. Most internships require students to do menial work like cold calling and data entry. Our goal is to teach our interns the ins and outs of actual marketing consultation work. We challenge them by involving them in day to day operations and they must get creative to keep up with the demands of our clients. We are providing real value here, not just a show-up job for some random resume mention or empty college credit. This builds a tremendous amount of experience that unfortunately the college system does not provide, says Duran Inci, the COO of Optimum7.

Not only are interns involved in Optimum7s day-to-day operations, they have become part of the team, spending quality time each week shadowing a specialist in each field of internet marketing, from marketing specialists and copywriters to web designers and programmers.

Ultimately, this was meant to give each intern experience in each aspect of online marketing consultation and implementation, rather than solely in their specific field, so that they could understand how each field relates to another and why each is important.

Some of the most valuable experiences the interns had was the hands-on experience they received in search engine technology, social media engagement, web analytics and design, reputation management and strategy, keyword research, and PR outreach.

Understanding that college students have extremely varying hours for classes, homework, projects, midterms, and finals, Optimum7 arranged a flexible schedule that paired similarly focused interns to work with one another, as well as the full time Optimum7 team.

The interns were also shown the importance of a positive online reputation because many employers now search for prospective hires online. Lucia Sastre, an SEO and Social Media Specialist, helped each intern craft professional social media accounts that will benefit them in their search for a career after graduation.

Optimum 7 is a highly consultative internet marketing company with offices in Morristown, New Jersey and Miami, Florida.
