MailChimp today announced an integration with LaunchBit, an advertising network for email. This service connects high quality email publishers and advertisers. Companies can reach into developed, niche markets through a trusted source, publishers are compensated, and subscribers hear about products and services relevant to their interests. LaunchBit’s integration with MailChimp streamlines this process.

Email is one of the most effective channels through which businesses can connect with people. However, the process of partnering companies with relevant email newsletters can be inefficient. For publishers, it can be time consuming and difficult to sell ads. Plus many existing ad networks just drop random ad content into an otherwise stellar newsletter, and for a publisher who has worked hard to gain an audience’s trust, this can be a disaster. For advertisers, it can be equally tough to find complementary newsletters, ensuring reach to the right audiences.

LaunchBit organizes publishers and advertisers, so it’s simple for a business to contact a relevant newsletter, or for a publisher to select an advertiser or promotional partner for themselves. The ads are text based with just a small image so a promotion feels more like extra content, rather than an intrusive advertisement. LaunchBit also screens both publishers and advertisers to guarantee the quality of the newsletter and of the advertisement.

“We’re excited to partner with MailChimp to help newsletter publishers monetize their emails with great-looking advertising.” says Elizabeth Yin, LaunchBit CEO. “The future of advertising is really just quality content, and we think this is a first step in that direction.”

LaunchBit managed ads are text-based with a small image, rather than a full-scale banner ad, and match the tone of the given newsletter. Publishers have full control over which ads are published, can pick and choose which advertisers to partner with, and can accept or reject any partnership offer.

To start the process, a publisher first syncs his or her MailChimp account with LaunchBit, and then just needs to insert a short line of HTML with merge tags into their MailChimp template to enable advertising in their newsletter. A publisher can then select advertising partners within LaunchBit, and the selected ad content will be automatically placed into the appropriate spot within the email in MailChimp.

One publisher using LaunchBit since their launch is Hacker Newsletter, started by Kale Davis. LaunchBit has been a great partner to work with and has allowed me to focus on creating great issues instead of finding advertisers. says Kale. Their new integration with MailChimp makes it even easier and the relevant advertisers add more value for the subscribers of my newsletter.
