Vancouver, BC (Vocus) April 21, 2010

Participants in the workshop Nuts and Bolts: Building an Effective Web Presence will learn how to create a web strategy for themselves and their clients at Consulting Conference 2010, the management consulting conference sponsored by the Institute of Certified Management Consultants of B.C. May 28 – 29 in Vancouver, B.C.

Creating an effective web presence goes far beyond simply having a website says workshop leader Terry Rachwalski.

“A lot of people figure if you build a website, people will come to it. Wrong attitude!” says Rachwalski, who has designed and implemented multiple ‘go-to-market’ strategies in North America and Asia through her Victoria-based firm, Front Porch Perspectives. Specializing in web and new media strategies for technology firms, she says the strategies apply to all sectors.

“A successful web presence is supported by a variety of activities. Beyond key words and directory listings we also have to consider using social media, such as Twitter and Facebook, as well as news releases and articles that link to all the supporting sites.”

Web-based marketing is a relatively new and constantly changing field rife with buzz words such as search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM) and affiliate marketing. Rachwalski’s workshop will help participants better understand the ‘nuts and bolts’ of the work so they can capitalize on the opportunities offered by an effective web presence.

To further help consultants make the most of web-based opportunities, Rachwalski is developing World of Consulting, an online community to help sole practitioner and medium-size consultants build a web presence and promote their work. A fully-linked directory and forum will allow consultants to network with other consultants in their fields, find associates, share information and learn about the latest trends.

World of Consulting is the diamond sponsor of Consulting Conference 2010 and hosts the conference website. World of Consulting will be launched later this spring. Meanwhile, consultants are invited to try it out for free.

Nuts and Bolts: Building an Effective Web Presence is one of 12 sessions at Consulting Conference 2010, which is designed to help business consultants enhance their consulting value to clients, to themselves, to the profession, and to society.

The conference will also feature a keynote presentation with internationally renowned management consultant Dr. Alan Weiss, author of more than 30 books about consulting. For more information about the conference, and to register, see the Consulting Conference 2010 website or call 1-800-268-1148.
