Washington, DC (PRWEB) September 25, 2012

DC area web design firm, Blue Water Media, took home seven awards in the recent Graphic Design USA American Graphic Design competition; six in the web design category and one in the print design category. Blue Water Media is honored to have been recognized by the esteemed awards bureau, which celebrates the power of a well-designed site to attract audiences, communicate information, generate engagement and response, and market products and services.

Blue Water Medias first award was in honor of web design work for the Public Media Business Association (PMBA), a go-to trade association serving the business needs of public media. The redesigned website, http://www.pmbaonline.org, features an intuitive user layout and fresh creative design, including a dynamic image slideshow on the homepage, a bright orange and white color scheme and strong call to actions to Join PMBA and Register Now for upcoming conferences and events. Extensive search functionality, member-only discussion boards and dynamic job feeds further promote usability and visitor engagement, helping PMBA better serve as an all-inclusive resource hub for the business needs of public media.

A new website for business solutions specialist, Macfadden, received the second design award. The site, http://www.macf.com, effectively highlights Macfaddens professional services and technical expertise to federal agencies and commercial clients facing mission-critical challenges. The aesthetically enhanced interface better equips Macfadden to help clients solve a wide scope of business challenges, and the intuitive new layout makes it easier for users to navigate and explore Macfaddens capabilities, clientele, and high-profile success stories.

The third award recognizes Blue Water Medias website for fine jewelry retailer, La Belle Cezanne. The stunning site, http://www.labellecezanne.com, boasts a navy blue, white and gold color scheme which provides an elegant yet subdued backdrop upon which the jewelry displayed shines. The high quality jewelry image slideshow on the homepage highlights the stores finer pieces while the prominently written words, sparkle, time and love imbue the site with a special occasion feel. Usability and engagement are also enhanced through simplified navigation and highly visible social media icons driving customers to connect via Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and better promoting La Belles breathtaking European-style jewelry collection in the digital sphere.

The new website for visionary interior and event design specialist, Krista Stokes, was given the fourth award. The website, http://www.kristastokes.com, sports non-traditional but highly efficient navigation, bright colors, and high quality imagery, perfectly reflecting Kristas lively and unconventional approach to design and life. Built in the Joomla content management system, the website helps Krista better inspire clients to create and inhabit emotional and physical spaces they love.

The website for leading design researchers and practitioners at the Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA), won the fifth award. Containing an interactive blog and events calendar, a robust resources section and full social media integration, http://www.edra.org, is more aesthetically appealing and easy to use. The redesigned site provides the ideal platform to engage and grow EDRAs vibrant network of design visionaries as well as promote EDRAs advances in environmental research and design in the digital space.

The sixth web design award went to the new web portal for the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) website, which facilitates recruitment of military spouses as employees for vetted corporate partners. Utilizing the Drupal content management system, the new site offers enhanced user interface design and upgraded functionality; including a resume builder function, a comprehensive job search utility that matches your job preferences, and custom e-mail alerts based on job profile information. A major advantage of the new site is that MSEP is now able to effectively track and report on the number of accepted jobs placed, promotions, and overall site performance.

Blue Water Medias final award was for an internal company poster promoting core values through the acronym ANOT, which stands for, Always deliver a great design and flawless functionality, never miss a deadline, over communicate internally and with the customer, teamwork is what makes us great. The design incorporates bold font to call attention to the ANOT acronym as well as nautical elements and a blue and white color scheme. The poster helps to foster employee engagement and commitment to excellence in the workplace.
