On September 24, 2012, online marketing company, fishbat, Inc. releases a statement regarding an article on the obstacles Apple faces while trying to continue record iPhone 5 preorder sales.

According to an article Time.coms Techland section, Apple saw an unprecedented number of preorders for the companys newest phone, the iPhone 5, in a 24 hour period. The article states that, Preorders for the iPhone 5 topped 2 million in their first 24 hours, more than double the amount of its predecessor over the same period, the article states. Keeping up its selling momentum will be a challenge for the Apple, mentioned the article. The companys iPhone 4s, predecessor to the iPhone 5, sold more than 4 million units in the three days succeeding its October 14th launch date. At that point, many iPhone and Apple users were still mourning the loss of Apple founder Steve Jobs, who passed away less than two weeks before the iPhone 4s launch.

In the article, Canaccord Genuity analyst T. Michael Walkley states that he feels the latest units will demonstrate solid, impressive sales due to a differentiated form factor versus the iPhone 4S. The latest incarnation of the iPhone marks Apples first significant modification to the iPhone since the series 2007 inaugural launch. The iPhone 5 boasts a 4 inch (diagonal) screen. Walkley goes on to say that, Apple could ship 9 million to 10 million iPhone 5s come September 29th.

Justin Maas, VP of Client Relations at fishbat, Inc. comments on Apples ability to overcome the challenge of breaking more records and increasing iPhone 5 sales, The demand for the product is definitely there. People want the newest iPhone. Apple might not be able to keep up with the supply initially, but I think they will sell enough units to stay in the black for another year. He adds, Personally, I think the real challenge rests with the other companies. Everyone knows iPhone as a brand. Other phone makers dont have the kind of brand awareness that Apple does.
