Screw presenters are small, tabletop devices (5″x 7″ foot print) used to organize and automate work areas and production cells. Screw presenters make assemblers and the assembly process more efficient by mechanically presenting a screw to a fixed pick up point. For cell or line based assembly, an operator uses a magnetized bit or vacuum attachment to pick up a screw from the presenter screw guide. Conventional assembly methods cause assemblers to inefficiently fumble with screws that are stored in bins or shaker trays. The enhancement of productivity is estimated to improve assembly time by nearly fifty percent.
Automated or robotic type screw presenters are a standard product that presents the screw for automated pick up. These feeders can be used in combination with most any assembly application where a fixed collection point is required. Alternative methods of presenting a screw are cumbersome and very expensive.
Owing to experience, Sony has developed four distinctive models for differing applications.
